If your chest is tight and your thoughts are sprinting, that does not mean you are failing. Your nervous system hit a false alarm — intense in the body, and still not proof that you are in danger right now.

Try 4-7-8 breathing

The goal is a longer, softer exhale — not a perfect count. You are giving your body a slower rhythm to follow when everything feels too fast.

You are not alone in this. For more free tools, keep our coping tools nearby, or read the evergreen guide to 4-7-8 breathing.
