What to do during a panic attack: name three colors

When panic hits, attention often tunnels. The room shrinks. Your mind races ahead into worst-case stories while your eyes stop really seeing what’s in front of you.
Naming three colors you can see is a small way to pull attention back into the room — not to force calm, just to give your nervous system one ordinary fact at a time.
Try name three colors
- Look around (no rush).
- Name one color out loud or in your head.
- Find a second. Then a third.
- If you can, notice where each color sits — a wall, a mug, a sleeve.
You do not have to feel better yet. Three colors is enough of a start. This peak can pass.
